July in the Country, Slate River, On

July in Slate River Valley is just a glorious time. The Peonies are just blooming...aren't they lovely? This dark pink Peony is very special to us... this peony was transplanted from Opa Overmeer's Farm on Broadway Ave. It's in a too shady spot ( a large globe cedar hogs the sun)  but every year it produces lots of showy blooms. Peony blooms can be picked in the heat of the day and hung up to dry, in a well ventilated spot, out of the sun and moisture.

The pale pink peonies also dry beautifully, and look lovely in a china cup or a vintage glass vase.

Our Dahlias are also putting on a show.

And bushes of wild roses are blooming everywhere, alongside the road, in Gardens...

Here at The Camellia we have been stenciling our planters, giving them that French Barn look. Stencils are priced at $22.00 .

Here we used a mini-foam roller, with Cottage Paint in the colour Soot.

New soap-testing station on the porch at our shop.

And a glorious end to a lovely, sunny day -  a walk by the Lake to cool off. Get out during the month of July and enjoy every bit of Summer!
