Robins and Refugees, and Living in Canada

Most of us are all tangled up in the hustle and bustle of getting ready for Christmas, maybe worrying about who will decorate the tree, clean the house, and who is hosting Christmas din-dins this year. Today, the first planeload of Refugees from Syria landed in Canada today.

We obsess over getting the perfect Tree.

Here at #TheCamellia, we have been busy making fresh Evergreen wreaths, which so many of you have bought to decorate your front doors.

Refugees....most of us cannot even imagine the horrors of War, or of not having a safe place to call Home. Imagine leaving your world to enter a different world, with another language, a different climate, and different customs.
Even a simple thing like trying to get on an escalator will baffle a person who has NEVER SEEN AN ESCALATOR  BEFORE ( Is it going to eat me up?) ( Will I disappear into a black hole?)

Canadians love Robins, as they herald the coming of Spring. Check out this video ...
We all want our kids to be safe in that nest, and we can't help but get emotional when you see the faces of the little kids..refugees, clinging to their parents or siblings.

Imagine moving from a warm climate...

...to a cold climate, with Snow. ( Takes soooooo much longer to get dressed).

Imagine living with Gunfire, and buildings blowing up, and walking past dead bodies in the street, all bloated in the heat. It will be a long time before a refugee does not do the drop-and-roll when they hear a gunshot. Yet some say we shouldn't welcome Refugees..let them go someplace else. Not my problem.

We take so much for granted as Canadians. The ability to go for a walk or a run, without fear.

As Canadians, we are used to going into the grocery and seeing full shelves. In war-torn countries, you join a line for cooking oil, then a few more hours in line for flour, and so on. Ever watch some people in the grocery aisle, and they are frowning at the lettuce? huh..why?  Just be happy you have lettuce.

Today, let us welcome Syrian refugees into Canada!!
