Open floor plans, yes and no... Bassett Furniture, High Point, N.C.

Farmhouse style white family room with vaulted ceiling

Open Floor plans seem to be all the rage now. Take the interior walls down, we want to be able to see all the way through the house, and to have all the rooms flow easily into one another. Give us a giant, open space so we can entertain, and have lots of room. Entertain...?? Have you ever wondered what these Homeowners do for a living...? Where do they find time to entertain, especially if they have children or grandchildren, pets and ageing parents...??? Keeping an Open-Floor plan Home clean is challenging, there's no door to slam shut on the mess. The mess is ALWAYS visible.

What do y'allll think? Families need WE time, but they also need ME time. IKEA identified this as one of the challenges of modern living. A look at Ikeas' website reveals how to create a Bathroom retreat for some Me time.

black hardware on wooden door

Sometimes it's a relief to have a room with a door that you can just close, after all, who wants to be picking up stuff from the minute you walk into your Home?  And for sure if someone wants to relax and have some quiet time, and the others want to watch a very noisy game on TV, a door just dampens all that noise.

Erin and Ben Napier at High Point Breakfast seminar

Have you heard of the High Point Furniture market in North Carolina? I had the opportunity to hear Erin and Ben Napier ( of Hometown fame) speak at High Point! They are just as friendly and warm hearted as they are in their HGTV show.

Erin and Ben Napier Furniture collection at High Point, N.C

Erin and Ben were launching their Furniture line produced in partnership with Bassett Furniture, check out this lovely bedroom furniture above. We love the old-fashioned feel and the botanical print above the bed, I mean a person can get sick of modern and all grey and white and boring!! We all need some nostalgia and antiques and warmth in our lives.
