So happy it's March in Thunder Bay, The Camellia, Slate River Valley.
After a long Winter, the arrival the month of March is so welcome! All our songbirds are returning, and there is a chorus of Birdsong when one goes outdoors. We look forward to the return of green grass, leaves on trees, and field flowers. Look at these beautiful Lupins in the above photo, these are usually prolific in the ditches beside Hacquoil Rd. in Slate River.
This variegated Hosta is a beauty..... deer usually love chomping on its leaves, but this photo was taken in Spring. Do you have a lot of Hostas in your Garden? They love shade...and tolerate a bit of sun.
If you live in a small space, hanging baskets are the way to go. These reside in The Thunder Bay Conservatory, with a lot of filtered light. What plants are you planning on buying this spring?
Plants and Flowers do require some taking-care-of, however, they reward you with increased mental health and just make you feel better. Something we can all use, with the state of panic over COV-19, a strain of Coronavirus, which has just been declared, a World pandemic.
In case you have to self-isolate, this could be an opportunity to get all those pieces of Antique Furniture, and other painting projects which have been laying around for years, done. Here at The Camellia, we sell #CottagePaint which is the BEST Furniture, Kitchen Cabinet, and Wall paint. Bonus: it's Made in Canada. Bonus #2, we have a Paint Tinter here at The Camellia, and will tint quarts, and gallons.
Here is an old, stained fabric chair, which we are painting, yes painting with #CottagePaint. Plan a visit to our store, #TheCamellia for instructions, and ask about any upcoming #CottagePaint classes.
Here is the same Chair, painted with the colour Cottage White, with 2 coats of Flat wax. This fabric chair now feels like leather or vinyl. For more information and step-by-step photos, go to https://www.thecamellia.com/cottage-paint-projects.html. Make sure to scroll to the end of this section.
