Birds are chirping, it's almost Spring in Slate River Valley, The Camellia.

Chicks and ducklings

It's April 8th. 2022. April is usually a time when the weather is starting to get warmer, and everyone gets excited as Spring is coming! This is an April like no other, the snow keeps coming, and slush, and ice. Power outages and closed roads.   Everyone is trying to stay calm, and one way to do that is to start planning for the Spring season ahead. Some of you keep ducks and chickens, so now is the time to order the cute little fuzzy-wuzzies.

baby chicks

You can imagine the cheeps of these little chicks, and the softness of their pale yellow fuzz. And that moment when they get tired and all pile into a giant heap in the corner, and go to sleep.

spring willow

The snow is melting in our fields, and some of the willows are showing buds, grey fuzzy willow buds. There are tiny green shoots of grass in a few areas. Our songbirds and Robins have returned.

willow wreaths

We usually have a few willow wreaths for sale. It's hard work making willow wreaths, as you need to find the perfect thickness of branch, and you need a ginormous amount of branches. Call us at The Camellia to pre-order these willow wreaths, p 807-475-3551. You can do contactless pick-up, or we can deliver.

yellow finch

These yellow finches are so cheerful, they have a variety of tweets, and they make us happy at a time of mass anxiety and fear.

Hummingbird

We look forward to all the hummingbird wars that go on in our Gardens. If you love to collect their nests, now is the perfect time to check your trees, as there are no leaves yet.
