Farmhouse Style decor, the Camellia, Thunder Bay

Lately I've been obsessed with Farmhouse Style - Pinterest to blame for this, and watching episodes of Fixer-upper, and living in Slate River, which is a Farming community. We have been meaning to do up some Farmhouse signs, Here's our first one, #CottagePaint Cloudy Day used on a maple board ( at least I think it's maple), just one coat, then wiped down with a damp rag, lettering painted on, then finished with 2 coats of flat varnish. There was some playing around with the wiping to get that distressed look just right, that's the beauty of Cottage Paint, it allows you to play around with it until you achieve the look you want.

Here are some photos from a nearby farm  ...cows always look so peaceful, grazing away.

Some of us are in love with the idea of Farm life, but don't want the responsibility, the smell, and all those bugs. Plus we might get attached to the animals, once you start naming them,....well. Then you start to feel guilty when they have to go off to market to become someone's steak dinner.

Farmhouse Vignettes are so easy to throw together and they add warmth to an entranceway.

Old farmhouses are being torn down daily, and new houses built.

Toile is a typical country fabric, depicting scenes of pastoral life in rural Europe. At The Camellia, we have some toile for sale in yardage.

We also have a hand-made 3-panel dressing screen for sale in this Waverly toile.

Along with Farm life comes mosquitoes and ticks and other bugs... sleep under a Mosquito net, which we sell at The Camellia, in white and ivory.

Dried wreaths are hand made here, and add Nature to your Farmhouse styled rooms.

Don't forget to add vases of Flowers everywhere...we carry a wide selection.

No Farmhouse bathroom is complete without Goats' milk soaps, these are hand-made on the Farm.

Hornby Island Olive Oil Soaps are a treat.
